Eaton UPS Buying Guide: Three Scenarios After 13 Costly Mistakes

I made that mistake once on a $3,200 order: a desktop workstation, a monitor, a router, and a switch. I bought a rack-mount behemoth. It worked, but it was noisy, hot, and took three people to lift.   3. If you want the whole office, warehouse, elevator, charging, or solar to stay alive, you're in Scenario 3. Get a system designer involved before you spend money.

Once you know your scenario, the 'right' Eaton UPS gets obvious. If you're still stuck, write down three numbers: load in watts, acceptable downtime in minutes, and budget in dollars. Then compare current specs. The answer will be much easier to justify - to yourself and to whoever signs the PO.

Not every power problem needs the same tool. And no, I won't pretend there's a universal answer. But I can tell you from experience: if you skip the scenario step, you're choosing by hope. I've done it. It's expensive.
